Partnering with Builders to Create Workforce Housing
At Nebraska Housing Resource (NHR), we work hand-in-hand with local builders to make homeownership more accessible for middle-income families in Lincoln. Through our Workforce Housing Construction Loan Program, we provide builders with access to low-interest, subordinate construction loans designed to reduce the financial burden of creating quality, affordable housing.
What We Offer Builders
NHR supports builders by:
-
Investing in construction loans in partnership with local banks.
-
Reducing borrowing costs through below-market interest rates.
-
Focusing on owner-occupied housing in Lincoln priced affordably for working households.
-
Helping finance new builds or major rehabilitations, including upper-story conversions and infill redevelopment.
How It Works
Builders submit a simple application outlining their proposed project. Once approved, NHR partners with a community bank to originate and service the loan. The builder benefits from reduced interest rates thanks to NHR’s strategic investment, and the community benefits from more housing options.
Our goal is to create a self-sustaining revolving fund that continually reinvests in the community — supporting builders who deliver homes that meet both market demand and family needs.
